real shorts short stories from Hollywood history. It’s the 30th anniversary of the summer that Batman took the box office by Storm and the print soundtrack ripped up the charts. How did the purple one get involved with one of Warner Brothers biggest hits of all time Wow In 1989 Tim Burton was putting the finishing touches on his film Batman for Warner Brothers outside of a film score which famously Burton worked with good friend Danny Elfman before and since who had come up with such a great collection of teams and pieces. The director hadn’t really contemplated a soundtrack album, especially since he only used two pop songs in the temp track of the movie. More on those in a moment.
A Temp Track Is Made Up Of
music cues and songs that are not intended to be in the film. But give the feeling the director would like to convey with the music in the movie The producers on the other hand, though very happy with Elfman score were very adamant that Michael Jackson should produce a pop soundtrack. Jackson had two huge albums in the 80s thriller and Bad, both of which are two of the biggest selling albums of all time to this day, and he was arguably the biggest pop star on the planet at the time. On paper it almost made perfect sense for the two to create synergy. Both were in the process of trying to darken their image.

At that point, didn’t help the image of the upcoming film Any so clearly an edgy soundtrack to match the edgy film was needed. Sometimes a filmmaker can get so attached to their temp score that they can find themselves on the other end of a plagiarism suit much like the situation that surrounded the movie 300 more on that another time director Tim Burton, though already had his score and was shifting his focus to the other two songs that weren’t Elfman’s famous Chord Burton.

Everyone felt the songs fit the film so well that even star Jack Nicholson encouraged Tim Burton to reach out to Prince and see if he’d be interested in contributing to the film or just allowing the use of the songs Burton reluctant feeling the pop star wouldn’t want anything to do with the project finally agreed and asked the artist if he’d be interested in either re-recording the songs for the film or crafting two or three new tunes. Prince2 Burton’s surprise was a huge Batman fan. It turned out the first song the composer learned on the piano was the famous theme to the 60s UK series.

This never came to fruition as Jackson was too busy at the time with his bad World tour and signed with Epic Records. Unlike Prince who was as already stated coincidentally signed with Warner. The decision was made to let Prince take on the soundtrack.
Prince Was So Inspired By The Movie
and possibly his dwindling bank account, according to some close to the artist. That within a month he wrote eight songs for the film. Burton was overwhelmed, but it was immediately evident that some type of concept album was on the table, but this was possibly the first concept album inspired by a film. It was released alongside the soundtrack by Danny Elfman. Prints seemed to be exactly what the film needed to help shake the Campi image as the artists image lended itself more to the adult themes in the film and fit perfectly in with what the producers and Burton were trying to sell with her at the time updated version of the brand-new Dark Knight Prince recorded a couple more songs for the final release.

In the end nine songs would make up the album. The soundtrack would go on to be a massive hit.
