It’s odd though because I’m reading these and I’m like I don’t see anything having to do with George Floyd at all it’s bizarre so just to read a couple of them and of course this is the the full list includes the wording the Seattle, Police, Department and attached court system are beyond reform. We do not request reform we demand abolition.

We Demand That The City Council, The

Seattle Council and the mayor defund and abolish the Seattle Police Department and the attached criminal justice apparatus. This means a hundred percent of funding including existing pensions for Seattle police. They say we demand a retrial of all people of color currently serving a prison sentence for violent crime by a jury of their peers in the community. We demanded the abolition of imprisonment, generally speaking, but especially the abolition of both prisons and privately-owned for-profit prisons. The de gentrification of Seattle starting with rent control free college as a form of reparations for people of color hospital and care facilities employ black doctors and nurses specifically to help care for black patients, which sounds pretty racist to me and and let’s see we demand the people of Seattle seek out and proudly support black owned businesses your money is our power.

It will be you know the first thing when you look at that list and they say abolish the police and then they don’t put any alternative or any serious suggestion of what you would do instead of that there’s no credibility right off the bat. You’re just saying a thing that people are saying and expecting somebody to react to it. If I was the mayor I wouldn’t you know they’re not gonna do that so what happens a week from now when the people who are just hanging out in the six block area because I want to hang.

You know you can just kind of wait them out and maybe some people leave and then you’ve got a few radicals left and then what happens to this movement it How many black voices are involved in making that list you know in Seattle. There’s a lot of white people in Seattle. It’s a majority white place. I would imagine that when they’re saying we only want doctors for black people and college for black people. This is probably like a bunch of liberal white people saying this is what we think the black people want Black Voices to put them out and say what do you guys want out of this.
