It’s about an hour from Chicago and I’m working on a few more dates for this summer, possibly something going to come through for July in Houston and possibly something after this Illinois date possibly involving a live sim cast but it’s not finalized yet but then for sure in September, I’ll be in Austin, Texas headlining Cap City Comedy Club then to Philly Wednesday. city council meetings. It’s comedian Alex Stein hello ally chrissy thank you for having me and you know sadly I’m not making a ton of money but I did I guess I’ve already I forgot to put this though you know this is technically on every interview. I go on. I have to say I’m a blaze Tv contributor you know oh yeah it’s official H I signed a deal so I’m making a little. bit of money not a ton but yeah now because you know the ad revenue and so seriously.

This Is Another Thing When We Its

not all about the money. I do it for the love of the game, but on my Youtube channel even now I’m getting you know I think last month. I got like two million hits on my channel. You know because that’s videos it’s a big deal. It’s the most i’ve ever gotten still not that much money it’s like three thousand bucks.

I Thought It Would Be A Lot

more money than that than with that many views, so it’s not all the views would you know what it’s like it’s it’s honestly it’s such a process Alex and you know you’ve been doing comedy for years. I’ve been doing comedy for like bleep 10 11 years and looking back um it it’s it’s. You’re you’re on your way you know what I mean it’s it’s always going to be a process. It’s always going to be a cobbling together of many things. I think it’s very rare that you just have one opportunity that takes care of your whole income and I think that’s true of anybody listening.

Even If Youre Not In Comedy Or

entertainment. I I think it’s always better to have multiple streams of income that way. If if you know the job suddenly lays you off you can be like all right. I got my side hustle you know I’m not totally starting from scratch again and um I don’t know if the if you’re going how the comedy scene is in Texas other than like the couple of clubs. I’ve done, but I know that in New York very much it’s a city and I think this is.

True With La Too That Glamorizes The

kind of like broke hustling aspect of being a stand-up and I find that if you veer from that in any way like if you explore podcasting or explore Youtube people will come after you. People will talk bleep about you and I don’t understand this sort of purist mentality when it comes to comedy and just basically having a career well well. It’s evolving but Christie. It’s funny you say that because really when you know when I go to these city council meetings. The reason why I actually was encouraged because it’s not much different than an open mic other than seriously you guys are literally an open mic.

Its Literally Its Like But Anybody Yeah, But

it’s filmed see it’s like you know what I mean it’s all you know it’s a little bit better sticks are probably better than. your average open mic because that microphone they want it to work. They want to hear you yeah so that’s what I’m saying I mean I’m kind of basically an open micro and now more people like Oh come to my city do this so yeah, I I guess I’m the traditional sense though of like a comedian like you said they glamorized that lifestyle of you know hitting even Aaron Berg, who’s a badass comedian. You know he had the special where he did what like 20 clubs in a night like you know that’s really cool five 25 that’s what I’m saying that’s really cool but that’s really hard like people Don’t realize Chrissy how hard you work you grind it out like I so many people ask me. I’ve been going on your podcast since before I went you know super viral anything but Chrissy I don’t.

Have Enough Time In The Day

I don’t know how you do it it’s really draining it’s hard well like a big part of it was um losing my day job at the end of December, I wouldn’t get the vaccine and it was kind of like this do or die moment and I was like. I’m not gonna get this thing just to keep this job that I don’t like that’s not part of my future that I’m that I’m just doing it to whatever have health insurance or something and I think it was meant to be and I was there for six years and I want to eventually do like a big video about it like really blow it up because I think people would find the job that I had kind of interesting compared to what I do now the point. is people are it seem to be requesting you to go to their city to go to their city council meetings. Chrissy I’ve turned down money.

People Like Ill Pay You To Come To

this school board meeting. I’ll pay you to come there and it’s not even that I wouldn’t do it it’s just I don’t have enough time in the day to fly to all these different places, but see that’s the thing it’s like you know how you go on the road. I am gonna have to go on the road because I got to go after the Boston mayor Mayor Wu I got to go after Lori Lightfoot in Chicago, but the problem with Chicago is they have a very strict open mic policy how it works there. I know it’s you know some clubs is hard like the laugh factor in La” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>La it’s hard to. get on their open mic Theirs is the hardest in Chicago because how it works is.

They They Only Do It For 30

minutes and only it’s the they have a limited sign up, but they it’s random They pick randomly who gets to go. Oh It is just like an open mic Yeah, so you know it’s not, but it’s not really random. You know what I mean it’s like they don’t make you buy a drink or two somebody yeah They make you buy yeah well like I’m what I’m trying to say is I do need to go on the road and I need to go after these other cities because like I’m everywhere. I go now in the metroplex city. Managers of like let’s say a small town like Euless or the colony.

Some Cities Are Requesting Me In Some

cities they already have a contingency. plan if I come in to turn off the microphone or turn off the video stream, so I can’t reshare it, so it’s really weird yes that’s happened in mesquite yes so it’s in Plano listen to this. Plano is a big city a big suburb of Dallas. They changed their whole public comment for the city council members said I’ve been a city council member for six years and we’ve had a two-hour discussion on getting rid of the open comment because a guy has come here over the last two months and embarrass us and from Plano like the closest one to you like that’s your go-to very close yeah I mean I mean Dallas is like my main one, but Plano is like 15 minutes away um and so so what happened was.

They Changed It For A Week And Then

I went and cussed them out. That went video went viral. I got half a million views and they just decided to go back.
