I Love Reading About Your Backstory Your
first job kind of inNK] was hosting for the Dallas Stars hockey team so you’re basically like how did you get well it’s was that your first gig did you always want to be. You know on UK basically um walk me through your journey. Yeah I will so I I always wanted to be on UK just because I remember when I was learning to read. I was about six years old and my mom was having me practice my reading skills with like the newspaper and because my my mom and my grandparents everyone still got like the physical newspaper when I was a kid. So there was a story about a child that lived in Dallas that had already paid for their college education by doing like acting on UK shows and commercials and stuff like that and so.
So That Was The Article That I
read and so I went to my mom and I’m like wait a minute so this kid’s getting paid to play pretend like someone will pay you to do it and so my mom kind of explained how that worked and so ever Since then I thought well if someone’s gonna pay me to just Goof Off well then yeah that’s what I want to do so. I I started off wanting to be an actress and I I did a couple things. I’m not a good actress at all but I was trying to make ends meet and pay my rent and the Dallas Stars. They were looking for an entertainment host and I enjoyed hockey. I’d always kind of been a hockey fan and so I went out for that.
I Got That Job And I Thought
well I actually enjoy. This so much more because I don’t have to be a character I just get to go out there and be me so that’s how I started sort of working in the the hosting and on-air Arena instead of doing commercials for Cashforgold. com and for Sonic America’s UK and UK money like I that’s kind of how I started too like I kind of I’m like do I want to be an actor, but I was like doing improv so so many of the Improv people at the UK at the time would like end up getting into commercials. So you take like everyone takes the same commercial acting class like you all see the same people and then for the next like 10 years. I’d watch UK and I’d be like Oh There’s everybody who got like a commercial but me and then like you know you have to be okay with a lot of rejection, but at a certain point I was just like I have to move on from this like I am having no luck at all.
So Then I Got Into Stand Up
but it’s like a hard It’s A Hard Road and like I just remember so many auditions like you get there you get the you get to have the scripts printed out and they’re like all like basically chewed up and people like have spilled coffee on them all day and you’re just like how do I so like in anywhere from like five to 20 minutes. You have to like get a sense of what kind of character you’re gonna. I I probably sucked at it because. I just would and then they’re like improv. You can improvise a couple lines and then you would and they’d be like Oh thank you goodbye right it’s so true well.
I Dont Know If If This
was your experience, But I don’t think I was artsy enough to be an actor for anything other than commercials because everyone else would be at these auditions with like their character’s backstory and they’d like thought of this whole other life for their character and where they’d come from and what they’d been through and they were doing all this like sense memory acting and that’s too much too seriously. These actors like they don’t live in the real world. A lot of them they just like are like oh the craft like yeah you’re selling toilet cleaner like come on that was totally my attitude too so I think that’s why. I never I never fit in I wasn’t booking anything other than like the the bite and smile commercial so Yeah unless they unless like Amy Adams needs like a stunt double right then we’re available. I would love actually I would be great at that because I did used to do gymnastics, so I can fall.
I Can Fall Into Pits Okay.
Although although Yeah, This girl at twitchcon fell into a pit and broke her back, but she jumped in um yeah that was this girl. Adriana Chechik, who was also a porn star. So for I was hearing the same joke on Twitter for a good two weeks like Oh that was not the first time she got her back blown out. I don’t know I think I just yelled at somebody last night for saying that I’m like I’ve heard this joke so many times so.
Many Times Like Put It To Bed
yeah So How did you get from walking on ice with a microphone to The Blaze I so I started after working for the Dallas Stars. I started getting hosting gigs around Dallas for other UK shows. I did a home show called Hot on Homes and I did a show called Home and lifestyleNK] and then we have a like a City magazine here called D magazine and they did their own show too so I did that and then I worked on a Morning NEws show that was nationally syndicated called Eye Opener and I covered mainly like the entertainment and lifestyle and technology stuff. So if it was like a Kardashian story, then I was covering it um so I did that and interestingly enough. It It was for a media company that is a little more left-leaning um and at the time I was still freelancing on the side because I feel like you’ve already you always have to have like five hustles going at once you know and so I I ended up booking a job for a I can’t remember if it was a segment or a commercial for theNK] Network and the woman who was the producer there.

She Ended Up Moving From Nashville To Work
for the Blaze when they started here in Dallas and they were looking for someone to host a show and she just remembered me because I had told her I host a Morning Show. So she called me in and said would you like to do some freelance work for us and I said yeah I would love to because it was close to. Where I lived and I I knew of Glenn Beck and I followed politics about as much as the average person and so I started doing some freelancing for the blaze. They were doing a show with Millennials called for what it’s worth Where we gave our opinions for what they’re worth and so I was still working on this left-leading show in the morning and then freelancing for the place in the afternoon and it was really interesting because I kind of got to see how the same news stories were presented. You know from from two different angles and it was it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the news media business because I didn’t start off like I wasn’t a broadcast journalism major.
I Was A Film And Uk
and digital media major so um so yeah it was it was really. and then the morning show I was working on decided to transition into a different version of itself and I wasn’t super crazy about it and so the blaze said Hey we’re looking for someone to do the news hits and Glenn show in the morning and I was like that sounds awesome so that’s how I ended up there and I I’ve loved it ever since during that time when you were between the two worlds of like left and like right it’s so funny because I don’t even think of the blaze as right leaning but maybe that’s because I am probably just I don’t know maybe I because I am just naturally more on the right anyway and I’m just like Oh okay this makes sense, but did you feel like both places you were working. I don’t know that you had to declare some sort of. political stance one way or the other do you think did you get a sense that people cared more you know at either place where you stood politically where I worked in the mornings. I was more worried about them finding out that I was doing something on Blaze media than the other way around Blaze media knew I was working on this morning show and they they didn’t care um funny that’s always how it works it feels like the left is more likely to get upset and like cancel you or whatever over that then yes totally um and it’s a weird thing like when I was working on that morning show.
We Had One Story In Particular Where
I I’ve read The story. I looked at several different news sites and read whatever the story was of the day. But then when I looked at it in. The prompter, some serious key facts were missing and I remember thinking like well wait a minute like I’m no I’m no serious journalist, but like even I know like you’ve got to include some of this key information in order for people to form an accurate opinion of these events and so I started kind of ad-libbing some things at the end and adding those in since they didn’t write those in and I know they weren’t super crazy about that but I was like you know let the American public decide what they want to believe so wait you were covering the same story in both places and you noticed that they left out key facts on the left laning show Yes wow and I felt like at least when I started working at The Blaze. What I what I loved about them is especially in my new.

In The Morning They Would If
Republicans did something silly or that was just completely Asinine. We would still talk about it, so they weren’t trying to only demonize one group. They were saying hey you know everyone’s fair game if they’re doing something that’s taking down America so I’ve loved working there because they’re very open to people from all walks of life. All different political affiliations.
Theyll Hire People If Theyre Good They
just want to work with you and I don’t find that always to be the case with very left-leaning organizations you know if they find out you voted for Trump or they find out that you know you’re pro-life or whatever it is they they may not hire you yeah or they’ll like scream through all your social media posts right yeah it’s it feels sneakier like it’s more cultish feeling to me love you. you for the chats thank you for the comments I will see you guys Tomorrow Bye Bye all right love you guys I don’t even want to leave this candle smells so good.
