Whats Going On Guys This Is Ryan With Rk
outpost in Cyberpunk 2077 recently went gold and so many people myself included are really looking forward to getting our hands on what could possibly be the game of the generation and Cd. Projekt Red has a reputation for being the most consumer-friendly game developer out there but the past 10 days. The conversation has been focused not on the consumers and not on the game, but on the employees and the mandatory crunch that Cd Projekt Red is undergoing to get this game finished now we have game journalists fighting with each other over these reports not about the accuracy of the crunch, but of if people are on board or not so let’s get into this I want to take a look at all perspectives now. Like we said, Jason Schreier is the one who first came out with. September 29th last year, the boss of Cd Projekt Red approached Me for an interview they wanted to announce that for Cyberpunk 2077.
They Would Be Avoiding Mandatory Crunch.
This week they sent out an email to staff announcing studio-wide mandatory crunch and I talked about Jason Trier in the video. I made that I kind of hate the dude, but he does have sources and evidently this was true because it was confirmed by Adam Badowski. The head of Cd Projekt Red Studios , but his statement with now what we know another journalist right another journalist that had come out to provide a different perspective makes it sound like most of Cd Projekt Red is completely on board with this crunch so listen to the wording when Badowski essentially confirms that they are undergoing the mandatory crunch. These last six weeks are our final sprint on a Project.
All Spent Much Of Our Lives On
something we care for deeply. The majority of the team understands that push, especially in light of the fact we’ve just sent the game to cert and every day brings us visibly closer to shipping a game. We want to be proud of this is one of the hardest decisions. I’ve ever had to make but everyone is well compensated for every hour. They put in and just like as their company policy 10 of the annual profits will be split among the team so he did come out and say you know this is true.
This Is Happening We Didnt Want
to Crunch but we are but the majority of our team understands that I think that goes in to this now This is legacy killer HD breaking game informer reports citing CdPr sources that Cyberpunk 2077 Crunch story was blown out. of proportion and some Devs were even scared to celebrate the game going gold. CdPr did consider delaying again, which is what a lot of us said you know if you were going to crunch. Why didn’t you just delay the game, But evidently the majority of the Devs wanted to crunch instead so listen to this we’re going to hear from the game informer journalist herself now This is Lyanna Rupert from game informer like there’s a really important difference though with Cd projekt red one the compensation is above and beyond what they’re already getting two it’s a short term before launch and from what I understand from talking to a few people there there was a discussion on do we want to delay the game again or do we want to do this and from what I heard it was a mass majority, saying that they agreed. to the six-day work week so a mass majority from what she is saying at Cd Projekt Red say they agreed that they wanted to do the crunch.
- crunch
- crunching
- cyberpunk
- disappointing
- consumer
Obviously That Does Still Mean There Are
people out there that are that did not agree that did not want to do that that are crunching there’s another aspect for Nasdaq and I will never advocate for Crunch. I was in the military where we worked 15 18 hour days seven days a week for 11 to 12 months. I will never advocate for Crunch, but also the Polish working system and cultural attitudes towards employment and production is very different than how it is here and and that’s true and we even talked about it. In my original video. The fact that Polish labor laws are much different they have to be paid they can’t do the forced overtime without.
- reporting cyberpunk 2077 crunch
- devs wanted crunch instead
- crunch talked jason trier
- consumers game employees mandatory crunch
- game employees mandatory crunch cd
Compensation Like Weve Seen From A Lot Of
other developers at least in the United States again not again not advocating for it, but the the attitude in Polish development. Even though game development over there is still relatively small. It’s very different from the work, the workday day basis and and in terms of crunch everyone I’ve talked to that’s over there has not seen it as a crunch and from what I’m understanding is that there was it wasn’t just a random drop of this is now mandatory from what I understand is it was that there was a discussion beforehand about weighing the different options did I talk to every single person at Cd Projekt Red no but there’s another important part of this that I really feel like doesn’t get addressed, especially with a lot of those like kind of not click bait but like deliberately. inflammatory headlines now there she is talking directly about Jason Schreier and that’s going to come up later because now these two are arguing is that it it’s it’s. I don’t know I’m kind of it’s a complicated issue.
Its A Complicated Issue And The Fact That
the day that they went gold. The conversation came back in flux and I’ve talked to a couple of the devs that said they weren’t. They were like so excited to share people the news that it was gold and one person directly told me. She was like I’m almost scared to sound proud of what we did she’s like I’m scared of what people are going to say. If I say I’m proud of the work we did and you shouldn’t be scared to say what you’ve done and this was a long.
This Thing Has Been In Production For How
long. You earned the right seven eight years you earned the right Do you feel burnt out Do you feel taken advantage of and she said no and i’m like then be proud and I feel like so there you go there you have it from Lyanna Rupert, who has been talking to Cd Projekt Red employees and prevents a presents a different perspective than the one we got from Jason Schreier, but Jason Schreier responds a game Informer podcast recently suggested that my reporting on Cyberpunk 2077’s Crunch is incorrect never mind that I’ve interviewed nearly a dozen Devs. Here’s an email from studio head Adam Badowski in June apologizing to the developer’s partners for all of the overtime and he presents the email right here. It says let’s see it says if I could wish for anything I would like to humbly ask you to endure in the effort. to deliver the game I would like to extend an apology to your partners and ask for their support as well.
Dear Partners.
I’m fully aware the hard work your loved ones often means they cannot participate in on the home front, but I promise. This is the last stretch and the finish line is near. So Jason Schreier puts that and also responds directly to legacy killer HD and game informer right there game informer’s journalist responds to Jason Schreier again the context not there in the tweet. This is why I don’t do a lot of takes on twitter too much nuance gets shelved too much context gets lost.
This Is Disappointing Um Here.
It is a company embracing crunch culture. Doesn’t make it evil or malicious or an industry villain, but i’ve never seen so many people jumping through hoops to try to deny or underplay reality. The way they’re doing with Cd Projekt Red in Cyberpunk 2077. and I do to some extent.
I Agree Now I Dont Think This
crunch is as bad as the crunch. We saw it naughty dog or anything like this or for Red Dead redemption to a rock star, but I do think that if we had the same headline. It was replaced with like Ea or something like that someone that people want to hate. Then I do think the narrative would be a little different out there to be quite honest with you, but then Lyanna Rupert responds I’ve never seen someone jump through as many as you do when looking to mis misrepresent situations. You know exactly how you worded this tweet and you know it doesn’t align with what was said not sure when you became a bully, but it’s a shame because you are so.
Incredible Well That Thats Kind Of Weird
um I don’t even care he knows what he’s doing. I called out no outlets no specific coverage only talked about that a tweet started a larger conversation. You didn’t call him out by name, but I think we all knew exactly who you’re talking. I knew exactly what she was talking about when she said that but it sounds like lyanna Rupert is talking to people at Cd Projekt Red that present a very different element and now we’re seeing journalists game journalists starting to take sides. We see Polygon and Patricia Hernandez.
The Cyberpunk 2077 Crunch Backlash In A
lot of ways. I think she’s trying to defend Jason Schreier and his take on it even as more comes out that he not he didn’t necessarily present the entire situation. We also have things like this this update Cyberpunk 2077 could. have been delayed again, but majority of Devs supported extra day of work coming from that report so I don’t think this is done.
I Do Think Were Going To Continue
to see people, especially games journalists taking different sides in this. I do think that like I said in my original video. I’m still really excited for Cyberpunk 2077. I’m glad that this extra information is getting out there.
I Do Think That Its A Shame That
they wanted to avoid crunch. They delayed the game twice to try to avoid it, but still couldn’t right they still ended up you know they did make that promise. This was pre-covered pre all of that stuff Cd projekt red was not able to do this without the crunch, but the fact that a majority of the developers are on board with it. I Do think that even though it would have been nice for them to avoid crunch, it doesn’t seem like it’s as big a deal As these first initial reports we saw out there interested to hear your thoughts on all of this make sure you leave a comment below smash the like button subscribe to the channel ring the bell for notifications share this video out there and I’ll talk to you later thanks for watching everyone and a huge shout out to my patrons.
