our K outpost? And there’s this story going around from io9 from Gizmodo about Canon and why Canon and the way we view it the way people obsess about what is can and what isn’t canon? You know continuity things that matter history stakes. You know all of these things how our obsession with canon is really killing current storytelling and I think it’s pretty laughable because to me without any continuity without any Canon, what does it even mean they just want people to not think about anything just consume consume consume and guess what a Lucasfilm employee specifically the one who’s in charge of Canon. Matt Martin, a member of the Lucasfilm story Group, which is supposed to be something meaningful which is supposed to be something that matters which is supposed to be something that keeps track of what. is canon? What isn’t canon? What this means and what doesn’t mean he agrees with this article. He doesn’t like the fact that everyone’s obsessed with Canon, probably because it makes his job harder because as we know Disney Canon is an effing mess.
There Is No Continuity In Disney Star
Wars in just a couple years since they have axed the expanding universe decided to throw it away start their own new. Disney can and everything new everything Tynan. There are more problems, more discrepancies more continuity errors than we ever had in the expanded universe and it’s because you have people like this working for them. Canon Kind Of Means Something To Us
It means it’s something you can expect It’s means that there is some kind of history, some kind of lore that things matter and that things have stakes, but again these people just don’t seem to care let’s take a look at the actual article right here from Gizmodo io9. Our fascination with Canon is killing the way we value stories as the pop culture we love becomes increasingly dominated by vast franchises of interconnected worlds and stories. So does it become dominated by one singular question from diehard fans is this the thing is the thing we’re about to consume canon to everything else we’ve consumed before it’s an attitude that’s turning our love of stories into some bizarre archival competition and on one hand, listen I can sit here and I can look at this from a perspective and I can. say you know Yeah? I think that if Canon is number one the only thing you care about above all else above any story anything like that then Yeah that may be kind of a weird view to take when you look at a story because how good the story is also matters but I don’t think you can just discount Canon because that is important without something without knowing whether something is canon or not. You can’t really tell if it matters to this grand overarching story that they are trying to tell if it fits in or if it’s some kind of else world tale Now that you can’t enjoy those you can, but it has a different meaning.
Cannon Is Not An Inherently Bad Thing.
Of course imperfect. It can provide structure to chaos and it can bride a sense of not just continuity but stakes as that continuity progresses. Yes all the reasons that it’s important to so many people. The ideal its character is barely impact of events on their journeys across not just one narrative, but many allowing them to grow and change to appointment.

It Might Even Be Entirely Different

They just want you to sit there and enjoy it just eat the popcorn consume what they are feeding you but the but those stories benefit from the added weight of being definitive interpretations or events that flesh out an entire galaxy’s worth of stories, but where Canon or rather our hunger for it goes terribly wrong is whether something matters or not. becomes the base standard for how we consider a piece of media and of course they’re talking about how people use this as a lead ism and phantom.
